What is an Intelligent Home?
The intelligent home is a house incorporating a communications network that connects the key electrical appliances and services and allows them to be remotely accessed, monitored or controlled through one easy-to-use system. The system is operated by simple to use touch screens that can be built into walls, sit on desks, or thanks to wireless operation, carried around the room or house. Most of you will already have some of the devices that can be controlled in this manner. They include your air-conditioning system, home entertainment equipment, security system, multi-room audio system, lighting, fireplace, motorised blinds etc. The difference is, that in your home at present, all of these things have their own separate controls and are not linked in any way.

Fully integrated and fully automated, the intelligent home allows you to control all electronic devices from numerous keypads throughout the home. For example, while watching a movie in the theatre you can access the image from the security cameras to see who is at the front gate or door. The images from these cameras can appear on any TV in the house — even on the bathroom mirror. There is a ‘magic’ screen that ‘floats’ behind a mirror in the Master bedrooms ensuite. In fact you could even access the camera images from your computer at work! In the Lake Kawana display home screens descend from the ceiling, lights dim and curtains rise and fall at a touch of a button. Access to the home is also automated with keyless entry, even the front door can then be unlocked from a number of rooms within the home.
